OVERALL, PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
To assist in controlling and monitoring the commercial operations of vessels under his/her care with full regard to Company quality procedures, Statutory Regulations and the Clients requirements, working closely with Clients, Masters, Agents, Charterers, Technical Managers and others, to ensure that optimum commercial results are effectively achieved.
? KEY RESPONSIBILITIES and TASKS:
? Assist in Keeping vessels C/P descriptions updated, as well as maintaining updated details of vessel’s loading capabilities across all tonnage ranges and all types of cargoes.
? Assist in Liaising with the Chartering Manager(s), either inhouse or Clients’ in Fixture enquiries or procedures as required, as well as providing Post-Fixtures support.
? Assist in Driving all commercial/operational, communications between the Master, Owners, Brokers, Technical Managers and Clients’ Chartering Department/Manager, in accordance with the provisions of the Shipmanagement Agreement.
? Assist in Instructing and guiding Masters as appropriate (in consultation with the Technical Managers as required) in the efficient prosecution of a voyage as per the charter party requirements.
? Assist in Subject to Clients’ requirements and in accordance with the vessel’s Shipmanagement Agreement, ensure the appropriate selection and appointment of Port Agents for all bunker or strictly commercial voyage port calls and arranging for port cost funding as required.
? Assist in Monitoring the vessels’ commercial performance against the charter party requirements including speed, consumption, cargo-carriage efficiency/utilization, energy efficiency and port performance, as well as investigating any short falls in these with the Master and/or Technical Managers.
? Assist in Maintain tight control over Company’s Operational Targets and Objectives, as well as Operational Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and support Masters and Technical Managers in meeting both Company’s and Clients’ expectations. Accordingly, ensure that all relevant reports (monthly, quarterly and annual) are available to and discussed with the General Manager and Clients.
? Assist in Handling P&I cargo / marine related claims and all defense club matters, in close cooperation and to the extent defined in the Shipmanagement Agreement with inhouse and/or Clients Legal/Insurance Departments .
? Assist in Liaising with the Accounts Department in all aspects of commercial accounting, as it may be described in the Shipmanagement Agreement.
? Assist in Ensure the timely and accurate reporting to Clients of all financial matters pertaining to voyage costs, including but not limited to:
o Miscellaneous commercial claims and recovery;
o Voyage results as required by the Owner:
o Handling performance claims
o Statements of Accounts and other results as required by the Owner.
? Assist in Arranging weather routing as required.
? Ensure that the commercial operations software of the Company is maintained up to date for all vessels.
? Assist in Monitoring and recording off-hire or deviation and reporting to the Clients and Technical Managers as required.
? Participate in Master’s Performance Evaluation for the matters related to his field of expertise.
? Assist in Promoting the concept of HSQE excellence throughout the Company’s organization.
? Implementing Company policies and objectives with regard to HSQE and ensuring that these objectives and targets are established at relevant functions and levels within the organization.
? Demonstrating commitment to HSQE excellence, by his/her behavior.

SKILLS, QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
ESSENTIAL:
? Master Degree pefered
? Suitable previous experience in Ship Management / Commercial Management & Vessel Operations Role
? Good leadership skills and ability to merge and motivate disparate teams
? Good communication and people skills.
? Good planning and organizational skills
? Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
? Flexible approach to work
? Good problem solving skills
DESIRABLE:
? Experienced Ship (Deck) Officer holding Class 1 or Class 2 Certificate of Competency
? Experience / sea service on-board the type of vessels under his/her care (container vessels, bulk carriers, tankers etc.)
