Formally established in June 2022, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou)(HKUST(GZ)) is a cooperatively-run university between the Chinese mainland and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. HKUST(GZ) has obtained approval from the Ministry of Education (MoE) and become the first legally-independent educational institution co-established by the Mainland and Hong Kong since the announcement and implementation of the “Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area” and the “Overall Plan for Deepening Globally Oriented Comprehensive Co-operation amongst Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao in Nansha of Guangzhou”. With a spirit of pioneering innovation, HKUST(GZ) charts new territories in cross-disciplinary education and explores new frontiers in pedagogies, aiming to serve as a role model of the mainland-Hong Kong integrated educational development and become a world-famous high-level university, endeavoring to nurture future-oriented, high-level and innovative talents.
In response to the increasingly complex challenges faced by the rapidly changing world, HKUST(GZ) adopts a brand-new and cross-disciplinary academic structure featuring “Hub” and “Thrust” to substitute the conventional one characterized by “school” and “department”, facilitating cross-disciplinary integration while vigorously developing emerging and frontier disciplines. This is a groundbreaking move in the higher education community across the globe.
The Academic Registry Services (ARS) is looking for a well-qualified candidate to provide administrative support to the ARS department. The appointee, who is responsible for the day-to-day administrative functions in the office, should comprehend the basic operation of academic registry services including related policies and regulations, have a high degree of self-initiative and work efficiently under pressure or during tight schedule and handle system data in an accurate manner.
This role will involve assisting primarily in the Graduation Team with the coordination and management of graduation check process and related activities, ensuring a memorable and seamless experience for graduating students. There are also opportunities for job rotation within the ARS.
Duties
1. Assist in processing applications for credit transfer and/or deviation from curriculum.
2. Assist in graduation checking and degree verification.
3. Produce official records of study for potential graduates.
4. Provide support to graduation ceremonies.
5. Generate data and reports using SIS and other campus systems.
6. Provide services on general inquiries regarding academic policies, procedures, and requirements etc. from students, faculty and staff, and the general public.
7. Adhere to confidentiality and data protection: Ensuring the confidentiality and security of student records and complying with relevant data protection regulations.
8. Perform any other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
任職要求:
1. A bachelor’s degree or above.
2. Two years of post-qualification experience, preferably in an educational institution.
3. A strong understanding of higher education student information systems would be an additional edge.
4. Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese.
5. Be proactive, self-motivated and able to demonstrate initiative and work collaboratively.
6. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, detail-oriented and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated ability to produce quality work under tight timelines.
7. Understanding of the role of academic registry services in support of a student-centered, multifaceted academic enterprise, proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with the implementation of large databases and issues related to the application of technology to student/faculty client services.
8. Sensitive to people from all cultures.
This is a Mainland appointment, and the appointee will be offered a contract by HKUST(GZ) entity in accordance with the Mainland labor laws and regulations. Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
