Key Responsibility:
· Team Leadership:
Lead and manage the DGUK Merchandising team in Ningbo, ensuring high
performance, accountability, and continuous development.
· Project Coordination with UK Teams:
Collaborate closely with UK-based project teams to ensure timely and accurate
delivery of confirmed customer orders.
· Production & Delivery Oversight:
Closely track production schedules to ensure all product ranges are delivered
on time and in full, flagging delays early.
· Stakeholder Communication:
Maintain regular communication with the UK management team, providing
updates on order status, risks, and key project milestones.
· Supplier Performance Monitoring:
Monitor supplier production and shipment schedules to proactively address and
prevent availability or capacity issues; escalate risks to the UK team as
appropriate.
· Critical Path Management
Maintain and manage the master critical path across multiple projects to ensure
timely execution and balanced workload distribution within the team.
· Quality Assurance & Compliance:
Partner with quality control and compliance teams, as well as factories,
to uphold agreed product standards and ensure all goods meet UK quality
expectations.
· Relationship Management:
Build and maintain strong working relationships with partner suppliers
and key UK customer contacts, fostering trust and long-term collaboration.
· Issue Resolution & Escalation:
Proactively identify and resolve issues affecting the order critical
path. Where needed, escalate urgent or unresolved matters to the UK management
team.
· Support for Product Development:
Collaborate with the sourcing team to assist in developing new products,
securing competitive pricing, and evaluating supplier capabilities.
· Collaboration across DG International:
Work closely with DG International colleagues in Ningbo to share best
practices and promote a collaborative, solution-focused culture.
· Team Development:
Mentor and coach the merchandising team to enhance their knowledge of
product categories, customer requirements, and merchandising best practices.
Individual Requirements:
· Office based role with frequent visits to suppliers.
· Degree level/equivalent qualification.
· Previous experience in merchandising, or supply chain management roles required, preferably within consumer goods, packaging, or a related industry.
· Good understanding of the Asia manufacturing landscape, with hands-on experience in China as minimum.
· Proven ability to manage critical paths, resolve issues and build supplier partnerships.
· Experience in managing a small team, encouraging best practice and team development.
· UK retail landscape understanding is preferable but not essential.
· Strong communication and presentation skills with high proficiency in both written and spoken English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
· Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
